Friday Warm Up: I went out on Friday to get used to the bike it was wet and I was ridding on wet tyres. I felt like I could go faster and faster I was a second or so faster than anyone and felt really confident on the bike. I missed a few sessions because the weather was brightening up. I left until the last session and there was a dry line, but it was still really wet at the bottom of paddock hill. I felt really comfortable, the bike was moving about a bit but this was because I was on dries. I came around paddock and the bike was lent over to far at the bottom of paddock when I hit the wet stuff and it spat me off but just could not wait to get back on the bike on Saturday.
Saturday: I qualified 5th – I was pleased with this because it was my first dry time out on the bike. In race one I finished 4th but had a 10 second penalty so ended up 6th. IN race 2 I finished 3rd and I had really good battle. I was getting down to some alright times. I was now building up my confidence on the bike and knew I could run up the front with the 1000cc bikes.
Sunday: I went out in warm up to get bedded in and comfortable. In race one I had a really good battle and was seeing where the best points were to overtake the big bikes and where there weak points were. I ended up finishing 2nd. It was a really exciting race.
Race 2: I now knew I could win it and that was my aim. I got off to a good start and just kept my head down chasing for the lead. I took a long lunge for the lead I made him sit up a bit but got passed cleanly and got my head down to make a break. I ended up winning the race but was more pleased with my time at 1.48.7.
Champion of Brands Race: I got off to a good start and was in the lead. Neil Falkner, myself and Steve Mercer made a brake from everyone else. I tried making a break but I could not get away from the 1000cc bikes. Steve Mercer then had a big crash and they red flagged the race he was ok though. I was on pole for the restart and I got a good start and was in the lead. I made a mistake coming out of one of the corners. This let 2 of the 1000 riders through and I was in 3rd – I knew it would be tough to beat Neil Falkner but I carried on pushing. In the end I finished 2nd and I was happy with this because I did a time of 1.48.3 this would have qualified me about 7th in the British Supersports. Everybody was please with the result. It was a tough weekend trying to keep up with the 1000cc bikes and not having much time to set the bike up but we got it there or there abouts in the end but could have done with a bit more set up time.
I learnt a lot at the weekend and would like to say thanks to Buff Kawasaki for giving me the chance to ride their bike. Thank you also to Timothy Reeves and Gary Golder for being my guardians for the weekend and for everyone who supported me in the absence of my mum and dad. Thank you everyone for a great weekend!!!!
