Practice: I went out to get a good idea of the track again, I was 3rd fastest that was ok because I really didn’t feel like I was trying. I felt really good and knew I could put in some good fast lap times.
Qualifying: I went out and got my head down from the start and was fastest for most of the session. In the end I was the only one in the 1.35’s and I was really happy with this because I still felt smooth. I was doing 1.35’s consistently.
Warm up: It had rained over night and the track was damp in a lot of places, so it was just a case of going out there and doing a few laps to bed in the back tyre and just stay on. The weather didn’t look very good and it looked like it was going to rain for the race.
Race: All I had to do was finish in the top 10 to finish 3rd in the Championship. The track was now dry. I got off to a good start and was 2nd behind Matt Witman, we pulled a bit of a gap on everyone else and I felt comfortable sitting behind him. I was going to make a move on him within the next lap or so because I was confident I could get passed him and pull away. Then the safety car came out because someone dropped oil on the track. Then it started to rain when the safety car went in. I was still 2nd behind Matt but had a few moments. I decided then to back off a bit. Graham came past me and I knew he was good in these conditions, so I decided to play safe and get the points that I needed to finish 3rd in the Championship. I ended up finishing 7th – I was happy with this because the conditions were poor. I got the 3rd in the Championship. I was very happy and feel that I have learnt a lot this year. I feel as though this year has done a lot for my racing career.
Thank you all for all your help and support, I can only hope now that I get a good ride for next year.
