It was all too much!
James is normally a quiet, placid teenager but as the weekend unfolds it was all too much for him.
Saturday – Free practice – went quite well, bike felt ok but weather was wet, therefore set up was tricky. Saturday qualifying was of course dry, having set the bike up for the wet conditions he now had a dry qualifying. After having an oil leak and the wrong gearing James only managed to get in 4 laps which put him in 17 th .
Sunday – One session of qualifying – James set off and managed to qualify 15 th , still having the wrong gearing on he wasn’t too disappointed with this, but knew he had to get off the start line on Monday.
Monday Race Day : James went out for the warm up session. The bike was now down on power by a long way and after investigation the main bearings were spinning in the cases, there was nothing that could be done. Due to this, James did not manage to get away good on the start the weather was very iffy. James chose wet tyres and the track started to dry out during the race. Riding his socks off he managed to claw his way up the field and was battling for 9 th place when an incident with another rider brought James off on the second to last lap. The frustration and annoyance was too much. James tried to pick the bike up to re-mount but realised it was impossible.
James was really looking forward to Mondello, although he has not ridden there before he has been told it is quite a twisty, challenging track which could have proved to be one of his favourites. Unfortunately due to the cost of this weekend and obviously major engine re-builds it may be likely that he might have to sit this one out. However, James would like to thank all the support that everyone has given and is still giving to him. He would also like to thank all the officials at the BSB especially the Marshalls! |
