Carry on smiling and you’ll get there in the end.
Working through a few problems with machine setup on Friday and Saturday James never the less qualified on the 4th row of the grid. The qualifting times very close with only 1.4 seconds splitting the top 20 riders.
From fourth row James needed to make a good start, and he did. Because of an incident, the course car came out after one lap, James was already in 9 th place. Unfortunately I made a silly mistake as the course car went in, and lost contact with the front group. I managed to catch two of the riders in front, but unfortunately the gap to the leaders was still there and I just couldn’t close it. I won't make that mistake again.
Keeping his head and with cool and calculated riding, James managed to finish a brilliant 5 th overall, and 3 rd in the ACU Cup. He said “I’m fairly pleased with this result starting from the forth row. I had a lot of traffic to get through, so finishing 5 th was a fairly good result. I ahve to concentrate on getting good machine set up, qualifying better”.
James's result was all the better when you realise that the speed trap results showed that Jame's machine was the 22nd fastest at 110.00mph, the fastest bike was read at 114.5mph.
James is now lying 6 th in the Championship with one point between him and fourth place and 3 rd in the ACU Cup.
Next round Oulton Park 2nd May 2005.
James said " I am really looking forward to Oulton Park. Hopefully we can find some top speed, and I can qualify better and aim at the podium. |
