Knockhill Meeting 24th 25th June 2005

Friday: - James went out for free practice and although conditions were damp the track was dry. James was going well until a tumble at the hairpin brought him off. Later it was discovered that oil had been leaking from his gear box casing. Due to a major repair job James could not make it out for the second session that afternoon.

Thanks to Kevin Newton of UK1 Racing the loan of Danny’s engine was offered and the UK1 Team all worked extremely hard to help put the engine in so that James could go out for qualifying on Saturday.

Qualifying: - James was lying 5 th fastest but unfortunately dropped down to 10 th due to front brake fade but he was still only 0.4 seconds off the second qualifying position.

2 nd Qualifying : - Unfortunately James slipped off after about 6 laps so his lap times did not improve in this session and consequently James slipped down to 13 th in qualifying. He wasn’t deterred by this however and was confident that he could make it up in Sunday’s race.

Sunday Warm-up : - James went out confident that he could improve on his times and whilst trying new suspension settings he was unfortunate and high-sided which resulted in a visit to Dunfermline Hospital. It was confirmed there that James had broken his ankle which needed to be operated on. With the option of staying there for the operation or travelling home and getting it seen to here, we opted to take the long haul home. So 9 hours in the truck and 3 days in the local hospital James is finally home.

Still determined to fight his bad luck, James is looking forward to getting out on track again and is hoping to compete at Silverstone. He does however turn 16 on the 25 th July and has not yet decided whether or not to ditch the 125 class and try his luck in another class. Whatever the decision lets hope this kid gets the lucky break he deserves.

James, all being well, is excited about looking forward to travelling out to Spain to watch his brother Danny race at Catalunya, a meeting that James had in fact hoped to do himself.
