James entered the MRO to have a bit of track time on his standard R6 in view of riding a 600 next year.
Friday Practice: This went well and James improved on his times throughout the day although the track was damp. He was pleased with his practice sessions.
Saturday Qualifying: James went out nice and fresh. The weather was good and he felt happy. In the warm up session James had put in a 50.719 lap time which he was pretty pleased with remembering that he was on a standard R6 and the other riders were on Supersports, although he was 5th fastest on the chart. Going out for qualifying James felt happy with the R6 and comfortable on it. He improved his lap time by doing a 49.783 putting him in 9th position for the afternoons superpole race. James went out for the superpole race, unfortunately not getting a very good start he got bogged in going round paddock. He started to make his way up and finished 11th . Putting him 11th on the grid for tomorrow’s race. He was still pleased though and his lap times stayed the same.
Sunday Race Day: The weather was good to us again and James felt well happy and at home on the R6. He went out for warm-up and just a few slight adjustments to tyre pressures he was set for the race.
First Race: James got a better start than on Saturday and was with the leading group going in to paddock. Battling with them round the bends James just couldn’t reach them on the straights, but he kept fighting. James finished an incredible 9th place and his lap times had improved yet again down to 49.663. James was well pleased with this and looking forward to Race 2.
Second Race: Again James got a goods start this time he hung right up close to the leading bunch but again making his move on the corners only to be taken back on the straights, he hung in there though and with a nail biting finish on the back of a train of riders battling from 3rd place down James finished 8th and unbelievably improved yet again on his lap times, now down to 49.646, can a standard R6 go any faster round Brands we asked ourselves.
James was grinning from ear to ear which says it all – he loved it!!
James has decided to race in Spain at the last two rounds on a 600 and would like to thank everyone for their support and encouragement at Brands at the weekend in particular Martin Sweet / Slipstream Motorcycles and Karen. He would also like to thank David Lever for the loan of the R6 and James Reidhaven. Without all you guys that have helped this year, we would have never made it to the end.
But just when you think it’s all over both boys will now be in Spain for 19th/20th November at Valencia and 26th / 27th November for Jerez. The best of luck to both boys for an good finish to the year. (Fingers crossed) |
