| James practiced on the Friday, which was dry, getting used to the track and the supreme atmosphere of the BSB. Saturday saw a weather change, going down for his first qualifying session the clouds moved in. James did two laps and had to pull in with a steamed up visor, once sorted and back on track the rain came down so dry qualifying was then not going to happen. The second practice session looked more promising, it was dry, James went out and after a lap of warming tyres up he came to the tight tricky chicane part of the track and probably trying too hard, the front end went and the bike flipped him in the air. That was it, unfortunately James did not qualify for the race. However, three of the riders that did actually pulled out and with the chance of James getting on the grid went and told officials that it could be possible for James to get on the start line. So he did, he started a grim 40 th on the grid right at the back, but James was just pleased to be there. The race was wet and very cold. James plugged away and made his way up to 14 th place, fantastic!! But the rain started to get heavier and there were bikes slipping off everywhere. Unfortunately James was one of them, another downer of a weekend and yet James came home smiling saying how much he had enjoyed himself and the weekend and appreciated everyone’s, riders and officials faith in him and all the effort and help they gave to get him on the start line. Now suffering a hairline facture to his right elbow and some damage to his ligaments he is fighting to get fit for the next round at Brands Hatch. |
