Friday – practice – Again James felt good about the day ahead. He learnt the track quickly and helped with setting up the bike for qualifying on Saturday.
Saturday Qualifying – James felt good, the bike felt good – he managed to qualify 9 th in the first session and in the combined sessions by the end of the day he finished 13 th , knowing he could improve on this he was happy to be on the third row and with lap times all very close in the top 15 he was confident the race would be good.
Sunday Race day – Setting of for the warm up lap – James was unfortunately taken off the track by another rider. Re-mounting he pulled into pit lane. His bike was a bit battered and bruised likewise was himself but he wanted to race. With not screen on his bike and plenty of ‘duck tape’ he set of from pit lane right at the back of 33 riders. He battled his way through, overtaking where possible or not possible on this short technical track and finished a commendable 11 th place. He was pleased to find that his lap times were only 0.4 seconds of the winners time – next time maybe. |
