Friday
Practice 1 – The track was wet but drying but we put wets on. I went out running in and then went out for another 5 laps and the team decided to keep us in until 5 minutes to go. Then I went out did three laps but didn’t really have a lot of time to get a good lap time in.
Practice 2 – It was damp and we put slicks on because I felt that it was dry enough for slicks. We couldn’t really tell what to expect because the track conditions were not good.
Saturday
Qualifying 1 – It was wet and I went out and was just riding round and keeping focussed on the job. My concentration was 100% and I never stopped thinking and never took my eyes off the track and when I came in after to session I was 4th . I was surprised because I didn’t feel like I was riding fast.
Qualifying 2 – I went out and felt that the track was more slippery, I don’t know why but I still kept focused on the job. I got close to my time to the first session but couldn’t quite beat it. I qualified 10th on the grid in the end.
Sunday
Warm up – Warm up was good – I just run in and got used the conditions, it was wet but dry and the sun was out.
Race – The conditions were damp, there was more dry than wet so I went out on slicks. I didn’t get off to a good start and I was 15th the first half of the first lap, by the end of lap 4 I was battling for 3rd. I nearly hit one of the riders that I was battling with and had to run onto a wet patch which made me drop back. I started to catch them back up and hit a wet patch and it spat me off so that was the end of my race. I would like to thank the whole of the Moto GP Academy for this year especially Alberto, Raul, Gorka and Julian for their help and support during 2006.
