Friday
Practice 1: I went out and had to run the bike in for 3 laps, after I had finished running it in, I tried to push but the track was slippery and cold so I decided not to go crazy in the first few minutes. I got bedded in and got quicker and quicker throughout the session.
Practice 2: I went out and I could go from the start, I got quicker and quicker and improved on my times from the first session. I found that the track was much better but it was still a little slippery.
Saturday
Qualifying 1: I went out and the track was better, where we had been out on the track on Friday. There is not really much to say about this session, it wasn’t a brilliant session and I knew that I had to improve in the second qualifying.
Qualifying 2: I went out and almost matched my time from the first qualifying session, but after I was struggling to get my time down. Then a fast rider came past and I tried getting on the back of him, a slower rider got in the way so for the last two laps I could just see the faster rider in the distance and was trying to keep the gap the same and improved on my time by one second. Overall time in qualifying was 1.53.9.
Sunday
Warm up: Warm up was damp, one half of the track was dry and the other half wet, so we only went out to run in. There was no point of risking a crash in warm-up.
Race: I didn’t get off to a good start and the first few laps wasn’t good. I found myself rushing in to the corners, I tried braking earlier and getting on the throttle earlier and improve my times and then I saw my team mate Scott Reading in the distance and could see that I was closing him down. I passed him with 5 laps to go and we were battling for the rest of the race. On the last lap he was in front of me and I wasn’t going to let him beat me, so I made a forceful move and he didn’t come back at me. I was 13th in the race and I know it doesn’t sound a brilliant result but this weekend did the world of good for my confidence. I would like to thank everybody in the Moto GP Academy, especially Alberto Pugh, Raul Jara and Toni Calvo.
