Friday – Practice 1 – it was cold but you could still push it. I got down to a 1.51.9. I was happy because it was cold and not many people got into the 1.51’s.
Practice 2 – It got warmer and everybody improved. I got down to a 1.51.0. I was on a quick lap but I slipped off and picked the bike back up, got back on but the session had finished.
Saturday – Qualifying 1 – There was a lot of damp patches on the track, but I got my head down and concentrated on the session. I was happy because I was second in this session which would put me on the front row for the time being.
Qualifying 2 – It was nice weather and it had dried up. I wanted to get pole. When I got new tyres on I went for it the rider who was on pole had done a 1.50.0 so on my last lap I was on a quick lap but I didn’t quite get it I was 2nd with a 1.50.2, but front row.
Sunday – warm up – It went good I was happy with the bike and ready.
Race – I got off to a good start and was 1st into the first corner but by the second corner I saw the red flag come out because of an incident on the start.
Restart – I got off to an OK start I was second into the first corner but at the end of the first lap I was 4th . Making my way back up to 3rd by the end of the second lap and determined to stay there until the finish of the race. I picked up my first podium finish in the Spanish Championship – it was brilliant – I felt so happy!!
